Dear Neighbor, After prayerful consideration with my wife and family, I have decided to run for Richland County Council in District 1.
As a longtime resident of Richland County, I deeply care about our county’s future. I am offering myself up to be a part of the solution and a part of a new era in Richland County – an era of competence, communication, and care. You deserve a government that will communicate clearly what it is doing and why. It’s time to elect public servants that care enough to “do their homework”, to show up, and to advocate for what they believe is in the best interests of its people. I hope to earn your vote in the upcoming June 14th Republican Primary. Here’s a little more about me: I was raised in Lower Richland County and attended public schools in Hopkins, SC. After attending college out West, I returned to Richland County to attend the University of South Carolina School of Law. I decided to pursue a career in real estate law and my wife, Nellie, and I moved to the Dutch Fork area in 2005 to have raise our two daughters. They both attended Dutch Fork schools. After being approached by a neighbor to review a proposed re-zoning of property on Koon Rd., I felt a call to become more involved in community service and local government. I served on the board of both the Ascot and Palmerston neighborhoods. I also served on the county’s Board of Zoning Appeals. I currently serve on the Richland County Planning Commission and in December 2021, I was selected as the Planning Commission’s Chairman. In both county government roles, I came prepared on day one and engaged immediately at a level I was told that neither group was accustomed to seeing from new appointees. I promise to bring the same level of preparedness and enthusiasm to Richland County Council. Here is my plan for bringing competence, communication, and care to our county government:
We must continue to build up our local infrastructure and restore trust, particularly focusing on our roads.
I will use my experience and knowledge to promote policies for harmonious growth that does not overwhelm our communities.
I will advocate for a County Council that operates based on sound information and listens to its citizens and openly explains its actions.
We need to get back on track with replacing worn-out county facilities while also being good stewards of how we spend our tax dollars.
I am a man who believes that the citizens of Richland County deserve respect and quality service from their government. For more information on me, head to www.JasonBranhamSC.com.
